Q&A ED Physician billing EKG

Patty Mogel

New Member
Hi,

If the ED physician documents an EKG interpretation but does not specify that he/she interpreted the strip, is it appropriate to bill 93010? Or, should the physician specify that he/she did the interpretation.

Thanks,

I'm a bit confused you state "documents an EKG interpretation" then "but does not specify that he/she interpreted the strip" - so did they document it or not? If they documented it i.e.. said they did an interpretation - then 93010 is the code to use.
