My providers had a great question while I was training them for ICD-10 open wound and injuries. I didn't know where to go to ask, and it is my first time on any forum so I hope I am doing this right. Here it goes...
If a patient had an injury and went to the ER for initial treatment and sutures were placed. When they come to our office for suture removal would that be an initial encounter as it is the first time at our office with this diagnosis? or would it be subsequent?
