Questions about billing secondary insurance

Hi,

I hope I am posting to the correct forum, if not please direct me to the right place. I am currently enrolled in the Blitz program and working towards my CPC while I am working in chiropractic office as the front desk coordinator. The office is very new and I am taking on some responsibilities in billing as well, but that is a field I am highly inexperienced in as I am studied RHIT in school, not really billing.

So, my question is: How do you bill a secondary payer/insurance? Do we physically bill both or is the primary supposed to bill the secondary as with Medicare?

I am so confused...Any help would be most appreciated!

Mail in CMS-1500 claim form with the EOB attached from primary. If Medicare is Primary and the patient is set up for crossover, medicare will forward it on.
