I will sit for the exam in August. I have been coding for 3 years now but am not certified. I would like to specialize but am not familiar with all the different ones. IP, Cardiovascular, Obstetrics, etc. Do you take special classes or just learn on your own? Thanks in advance.

Hi WebbieDebbie (that is fun to say! <g>)

I reccomend our medical terminology & anatomy (MTA) course plus our Physician Based Coding course (PBC). I know you've been coding but a good med term review is really great along side the course especially with the new ICD-10 system coming out that is heavy in the need for good anatomy understanding.

Here is the link to the combo course:

and if you want just the coding course:

If you want to speak with me email helpdesk@cco.us

Best wishes!

Sorry, I didn't mention that I am currently taking a Certified Coding Specialist class which will end in August. I have been hearing such great stories of how your Blitz helps prepare for the exam, so I am considering that close to the time I finish.

I had to take this type of course because Vocational Rehab pays for my classes and books. I just didn't know if there were other classes to consider for Inpatient, specialties like Mental Health, or Cardiology, ER coding, etc.

Thank you for sharing!
