Q: Cross Training ICD 9 to ICD 10 – “Do you offer any class on just cross training to become more familiar from ICD 9 to ICD 10?”

A: Yeah. That’s our ICD-10 Blitz, that’s the condensed version. That will give you what you need to take you from 9 to 10.

Alicia: 9 is harder than 10; and so, I like to tell people that 9 is like learning how to drive on a five speed and 10 is like learning how to drive in a Cadillac. If you learned to drive in a Cadillac, it’s going to be awful hard to learn how to use a stick shift; but if you learned on a stick shift, ICD 9, driving the Cadillac is a breeze. That’s kind of what I tell people, you need to know both of them.

Laureen: Yeah! Just as a reminder, if you’re already certified, you need to get your ICD-10 proficiency assessment done by December 31 or you lose your credential.

Alicia: And you can get it before you’re certified, and you don’t have to be an AAPC member to take that proficiency exam.
