Before you enroll

Choose the right settingThis page is for CDEO® outpatient documentation preparation. Need CDEI® instead? Explore inpatient practice exams.

Practice is not a full courseThese are standalone practice-exam products, not complete CDI training. For foundational learning, explore the CCO CDI course.

Certification is separateYour purchase does not include certification registration, exam fees, books or an awarded credential. An individual practice result cannot guarantee certification success.

Three gems. One clear purchase at a time.

The gem names distinguish the individual exams. Choose the one you want to purchase; a gem name is not a difficulty rating or a separate credential.

Buying one gem does not include the other two. There is no bundle offered on this page.

Why do the exams have gem names?

CCO uses gem names to make individual practice exams easier to identify. For CDEO preparation, the available choices are Pyrite, Gypsum, Fluorite.

Pick the gem you want, then use its purchase button. The names are identifiers, not a required sequence or a promise of different difficulty levels.

Turn your next practice session into a study plan.

A useful next step when…

  • You already have a foundation in outpatient CDI and want to check your understanding.
  • You are preparing for CDEO® and want a focused practice set.
  • You want to identify concepts to revisit before committing more time to exam preparation.

Keep your preparation focused

Outpatient documentation has its own context. Choose practice that fits the setting and credential you are working toward.

If you need to build the foundation first, the CDI course and Clinical Documentation Guides are separate learning resources.

ATTEMPT

Set aside focused time

Choose a gem or the trial and approach your practice session deliberately, with the references appropriate to your study plan.

REFLECT

Notice where you hesitate

Keep a list of concepts you want to revisit rather than treating a practice session as only a score.

Questions before you choose?

How many questions are in these exams?

Each of the three listed gem exams has 50 questions. The separate $5 trial also has 50 questions. These products are practice sets; they are not presented as the official certification exam or a full-length replica.

How long can I access an exam or trial?

All gem exams and trials include 30-day access. This is not lifetime access or a recurring subscription. Plan your purchase around the period when you intend to study.

If you want longer access, you can purchase the exam or trial again. It does not renew automatically.

Is the trial free?

No. The trial has a $5 one-time platform fee and contains 50 questions with 30-day access. It is purchased separately from Pyrite, Gypsum, Fluorite. You can purchase again if you need more time. The trial button takes you to its own checkout.

$5 · Try the trial exam

Does one purchase include all three gems?

No. Each $34.95 purchase is for the selected gem and its 30-day access. Choose carefully before paying. You can purchase another gem separately if you want another named exam.

Should I choose CDEO or CDEI preparation?

CDEO identifies the outpatient documentation preparation on this page. CDEI identifies the inpatient offering. Choose based on your intended credential and work setting, rather than assuming the two are interchangeable.

View inpatient CDI practice exams or ask CCO for guidance.

Is this an official certification exam or a certification award?

No. CCO provides independent preparation. Purchasing or completing a practice exam does not register you for the official exam, award a credential or guarantee a passing result. Certification registration and fees are separate.

Are a course, coaching, books or CEUs included?

This page sells the selected practice exam, not a course or coaching bundle. Do not assume that books, training, CEUs or other products are included. Review the selected checkout and ask CCO before purchasing if you need clarification.

Choose the practice that fits your next step.

Pick a 50-question gem exam with 30-day access, or begin with the separate $5 trial.
